Cheng Hsienfa

Founder & Artistic Director

Hsienfa Cheng began his dance education at the National Taiwan University of Arts where he was given the Honorable Ballet Dancer award from the National Taiwan Theatre. In 1988, Mr. Cheng has worked extensively with The Atlanta Ballet, and as principal dancer for The Ballet Contemporaneo de Caracas in Venezuela. In 1995, he joined Singapore Dance Theatre as the Principal Dancer. Currently, he is the Artistic Director of Cheng Ballet Academy and the Youth Ballet Company. A prolific choreographer and teacher, Cheng Hsienfa’s creative works have won much recognition and awards, both locally and internationally.

Tan Yaling

Founder & Principal

Ms Tan graduated from the National Taiwan University of Arts and started her career with The Atlanta Ballet upon winning the National Scholarship for training in 1990 and has since worked with The Metropolitan Ballet Theatre, Ballet Contemporaneode Caracas in Venezuela and Singapore Dance Theatre. She has danced numerous principal roles in many countries throughout South America, Europe and USA, including the 14th International Ballet Festival of Havana in Cuba, and has worked with many famous choreographers including Balanchine,. Jiri Kylian, Nacho Duato, Natalie Weir , Stanton Welch, Richard Wherlock, Val Caniparoli, Thierry Malandain, Andre Prokosky, John Butler, Jean Paul Comelin, Graham Lustig, Goh Choo San and more.

Concrete floors and other solid surfaces can create bodily injury as they are not "Resilient". A sprung dance floor absorbs energy while providing an even and consistent dampening affect. This is why our studios are all fitted with sprung wood floor panels with a surface finish for the safety and well-being of our students. This way, they can dance with peace of mind.
