| REVAMPED ACADEMY FRAMEWORK (NOVEMBER 2010) |
|
Dear valued students, parents and guardians,
Thank you for your kind support and generous contributions through the year!
Cheng Ballet Academy has always strove to provide, in a caring environment, artistic and academic training of the highest possible calibre, offering all students of the Academy a positive learning experience which is constantly monitored for potential improvement.
As a result of your strong participation in academy life here in Cheng Ballet, we are happy to share that we are moving closer to achieving our mission of being the preeminent ballet academy in Singapore.
Therefore, we will be enhancing our education framework and adopting a pedagogy based on that of professional ballet schools.
Moving forward in 2011, our dance training framework will be as follows:-
| Program Level | Age of student | Class Duration | Uniform | Brief Description |
| Baby Ballet | 3 - 4 yrs | 45 mins | Pink | Creative movement, dance etiquette & discipline |
| Pre Ballet | 5 - 6 yrs | 45 mins | Lavendar | Introduction to classical ballet aesthetic & movement |
| Ballet 1 | 7 - 8 yrs | 60 mins | White | First year of advance training |
| Ballet 2 | 9 - 10 yrs | 75 mins | Light Blue | Pre-pointe year - Focusing on strength training |
| Ballet 3 | 11 - 12 yrs | 90 mins | Navy Blue | More pointe work. Emphasis on core work, quick thinking and attention to detail |
| Ballet 4 | 13 - 14 yrs | 90 mins | Burgundy | Training in intricate foot work, dance sequencing, including more rigorous ballet vocabulary and pointe work |
| Ballet 5 | 15 yrs and above | 90 mins | Black | Pre-professional training |
We believe that this purpose-built framework will enhance learning opportunities for the students and also ensure that they will have close practical and artistic access to professional dance personnel such as Mr Han Kee Juan (of The Washington Ballet School) and Ms Zhou Chang Ning (of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan)
The framework will be in effect in the new academic year from January 2011 and will include adjustments in length of the class and fees for some Program Levels. For any queries, please feel free to call us at 9092 1103 or email us at hsienfa.yaling@chengballet.org
Once again, thank you for your support, have a great festive season and see you at our Year-End Academy production – A Ballet of Fairy Tales!
